We welcomed Bob to our family on July 5!
Bob was adopted from the Olive Branch Animal Rescue. Originally called Edward, he was listed as a Boxer-mix. I think that is a stretch. First, he is pretty small in person. He has a shorter snout than a German Shepherd, but a good bit longer than my other Boxers, including Betty. He has some white on his chest, but otherwise is black haired. His age is estimated at between eight and ten years. He has tested positive for Lymes Disease, and has some food allergies, primarily poultry and poultry by-products. Never-the-less he is welcomed into our family.
When I talked with Betty about finding her a companion, she made it clear that this companion would be required to take her name. So we are proud to introduce our guests to Betty and Bob White (Holstein).
Bob is still learning the rules of the household. He ignors the chickens and ducks. He struggles with the cats. He really wants to chase them, but I can stop him cold with a sharp, “HEY! HEY! HEY! Bob, we don’t chase cats in this house!”
He LOVES to chase the tennis balls. He doesn’t quite have the idea of dropping them so I can throw again.
So now our unconventional household is again complete with two humans, two dogs, two cats, four ducks, and seven chickens.
