While I try not to give China my money, I do find these cookie trays are a great way to keep and give pie. They are inexpensive, around $3.00 each, so great for giving. They are lidded, and strong enough to stack two or three in the refrigerator.
It isn’t Christmas yet, but I had no choice this time. A friend of the family lost his father unexpectedly last week. I made food to send over and pie was included.
I’ve shared with you that I purchase pie tins at thrift shops to use when giving pie, or going to church dinners, or for any time when I don’t care if the pie tin comes back to me. One thing I had not shared is how perfect these cookie boxes are to put pie in, to refrigerate or give away.
I admit, I do not trust the handle to carry pie, but the containers themselves are nice. I picked them up at the local Dollar General store. I haven’t seen them anywhere else. I also haven’t looked that hard.
They do break my pledge on buying things made in China, and buying new things. Unfortunately, I have yet to see anything closely resembling them at the thrift shop. Not only can he refrigerate the pie in these, he can stack other things on top without damaging the pie. You really can’t do that with foil covered pie.
