Shortly after getting married in 2001, we bought a two-burner propane grill. Twenty-one years later, we have a newer one.
The original grill has just about reached the end of it’s useful life. The frame is rusted in several critical places. We placed bricks under two of the legs to keep it upright. A good, strong wind will knock it over. In fact, the last significant storm resulted in a damaged knob. I can’t turn on one burner.
Now, buying a grill isn’t a sexy purchase. Well, it isn’t a sexy purchase for me. If I am going to cook-out on holidays, or whenever, then a replacement grill had to be found.
I cannot tell you anything about make or models. I can tell you the badge on the front says Expert Grill. It is a four burner, with warming rack, but no side burner for pots. The propane tank was not included.
Two of the burner covers were significantly rusted. I purchased two replacements at a local major home improvement box store for $15. The drip tray needs replaced, but that will be expensive, between $40 to $60. Right now I have two aluminum cookie sheets serving that purpose, about $2.
I had to take my Colorado to pick it up. That was probably $10 worth of fuel. So in all, I invested roughly $50. The grill listed for $20 on Facebook Marketplace. Yep, $20.
I gave it a good bath, and a couple shots of high temperature black paint, which I already had, and he looks pretty good!
I would like to turn the older grill into an outdoor pizza oven.
